IPL Auction 2024: IPL Auction 2023 will be held on December 19 in Dubai (IPL Auction Dubai), for the first time the auction is going to be held outside the country. A total of 333 players will be included in this IPL auction for 77 places, which also includes Indian fast bowlers Umesh Yadav, Harshal Patel and Shardul Thakur, who have been kept at the base price of Rs 2 crore. Actually, the IPL Governing Council had submitted a list of 1166 players to the franchises. After the advice of the franchises, the number of these players was reduced to 333. Of these, 214 are Indian and 119 foreign players. Two players are also from associate countries.
All 10 franchises can spend a total of Rs 262.95 crore in this auction. Of the 77 places available, 30 are for foreign players, with Australian players again in high demand as they include World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins, World Cup final hero Travis Head, wicketkeeper Josh English and star fast bowler Mitchell Starc. Included in the base price category of Rs 2 crore.
This is a mini auction, after this auction another mega auction will be conducted before IPL 2025. This time, 10 IPL teams have retained and traded a set of players and they are going to try to fill their remaining slots in this mini auction. This auction is different from the mega auction held last year. In this auction, teams try to buy players while trying to find their right balance and eliminate the shortcomings.
