The IPL Governing Council has imposed a fine on him for a breach of the Code of Conduct. Why did the IPL take action?
According to a statement issued by the IPL, Kieron Pollard used abusive language directed at the fourth umpire during the 19th over of the second innings. This incident falls under Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to the use of offensive language during a match. For this violation, Pollard was fined 15 percent of his match fee and was also handed one demerit point. Match Referee Pankaj Dharmani imposed this sanction, which Pollard accepted.
Although the exact cause of the controversy has not yet come to light, it is believed that the pressure of the contest had intensified significantly while chasing a massive target of 201 runs.
