IPL 2024 Playoffs Scenario: Rajasthan Royals have almost confirmed their place in the playoff stage of the Indian Premier League 2024 by winning the match against Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets on Monday. Sanju Samson's side have won seven of the eight league matches played so far and are now just two points away from qualifying for the playoffs.

Rajasthan securing a place in the top-4 means that the other teams will now fight for only three places, which means the path to reach the playoffs has become even more difficult. Let us see which team has what chances of reaching the playoffs.

1. Mumbai Indians

After the defeat from Rajasthan, five-time champion Mumbai Indians has come down to seventh place. MI's playoff qualification hopes have suffered a blow after their fifth defeat of the season. Mumbai has lost five out of eight matches but still has six league matches left. If Mumbai wins four of these matches, then the path to reach the playoffs can be cleared but it will have to depend on the results of other teams.

2. Royal Challenger Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore have had a very poor IPL 2024 campaign. The Faf du Plessis-led side has lost seven out of eight matches and are at the bottom of the table with just two points and a net run rate of -1.046. However, Bengaluru can still make it to the playoffs. RCB have 6 matches left in the tournament and if they win all six then they will have 14 points.

It is generally believed that teams need 16 points to reach the IPL playoff stage. However, it is possible for teams to qualify even with 14 points, but RCB will have to depend on the results of other teams to reach the playoffs.

3. Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings is another team which is a strong contender for the playoffs. CSK, led by new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, have won four of their seven matches and are currently third in the table with eight points.

To have a chance of reaching the playoffs, Chennai needs at least 14 points, which means the team will have to win three of its next seven matches. The good thing for CSK is that their remaining three league matches are in Chepauk, which is a good thing for them.
