The Indian men's hockey team continued its winning run at the Asian Champions Trophy 2026, defeating China 5-2 to register its second consecutive victory. Captain Harmanpreet Singh and Sukhjeet Singh starred with two goals each, while Jugraj Singh added another goal to complete India's impressive win.
After opening their campaign with a dominant 13-0 victory over Bangladesh, India produced another commanding performance against China. The Indian team displayed attacking quality, excellent penalty-corner execution and solid defensive coordination to secure another important victory.
India vs China: Team India Take Early Lead With Sukhjeet Singh's Goal
India started the match on an attacking note and put pressure on the Chinese defence from the opening minutes. Their efforts paid off in the 12th minute when Sukhjeet Singh scored the opening goal to give India a 1-0 lead.
China fought back and found the equaliser in the 26th minute. Yang Peng converted a penalty corner to make it 1-1, keeping the contest competitive.
However, India stepped up its performance in the following stages and took control of the match with some brilliant attacking hockey.
Harmanpreet Singh and Sukhjeet Singh Shine With Two Goals Each
Captain Harmanpreet Singh played a crucial role in India's victory. He converted a penalty corner in the 27th minute to restore India's lead at 2-1.
Harmanpreet struck again in the 31st minute, extending India's advantage to 3-1. Just three minutes later, Sukhjeet Singh scored his second goal of the match to make it 4-1.
China attempted to reduce the deficit in the 36th minute when Chen Chongcong scored through a drag-flick, bringing the score to 4-2. Despite this effort, India maintained its attacking momentum and kept China under pressure.

Jugraj Singh's 47th-Minute Goal Seals India's 5-2 Victory
India continued its impressive performance in the final quarter. In the 47th minute, Jugraj Singh converted a penalty corner into a goal to extend India's lead to 5-2.
The Indian players maintained their defensive discipline during the remaining minutes and did not allow China to score again. The match ended with India securing a convincing 5-2 victory over China.

With back-to-back victories, India has made an impressive start to its Asian Champions Trophy Punjab 2026 campaign.
The team previously defeated Bangladesh 13-0 before registering a 5-2 win over China. India will now face Japan on October 30 in its next group-stage match.
