IND vs SL 1st Test: India Plan All-Out Spin Attack Against Sri Lanka at Galle

The first match of the two-Test series between India and Sri Lanka will be played in Galle starting Saturday, August 15. Ahead of the match, the Galle pitch has been a major topic of discussion. Meanwhile, Indian cricket team bowling coach Morne Morkel has hinted that Team India might field three spinners for the first Test. Consequently, the trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Manav Suthar could be included in India's playing XI.

Team India's bowling coach Morne Morkel told the media:

'Kuldeep is with us, and he is an attacking bowler. His experience and ability are crucial for us. I feel they are all different in their own ways. One (Suthar) spins the ball a bit more, another (Jadeja) is more accurate, and I don't think having three left-arm spinners is a major concern for us. It will depend on how (captain) Shubman Gill utilizes these bowlers at any given time. But in terms of skill, they all have the ability to take 20 wickets for us.'

Morkel stated that India's spin attack is a very aggressive option, especially considering the Galle pitch, where spinners are expected to get assistance as the match progresses. He said, "If you look at the history of this ground and the matches played here, I think fielding three spinners would be the right decision. Looking at our spin attack, it is a very aggressive option."

The Indian bowling coach stated that the pitch looks good and expects it to change as the Test match progresses. The team has prepared for all kinds of conditions, and in this context, mental toughness, batting for long periods, and bowling in the right areas will be crucial.
