IND vs BAN: In the ongoing two-match Test series against Bangladesh, the Indian team is seen playing without a vice-captain. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet given the reason behind this. However, before the second match, assistant coach Abhishek Nair has made a big revelation. He told why the board did not choose a vice-captain for this series.
The second Test match between India and Bangladesh will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from Friday. Before this match, Abhishek Nair has revealed the intention behind not selecting a vice-captain. He told that Team India does not need a designated vice-captain in Test cricket. He believes that players like Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill are present in the team, who have a lot of experience of captaincy in IPL.
Assistant Coach Nair said- I think we need to understand that there are many IPL captains in our team. When you talk about players like Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant, then hopefully Yashasvi will also join it in the future. There are many players who have led their franchises.
During this, the former all-rounder talked about Gill and Pant. He said that both of them are mentally mature and strong despite being in the early stages of their career. Nair further said - I will not see them as young anymore. Yes, they are young in terms of age and the amount of cricket they have played. But I think mentally and as a cricketer I think they have the leadership qualities that are necessary. You do not need to appoint a vice-captain.
