ILT20 Auction in Dubai on October 1: Full Details on Purse, Right to Match, and Auction Rules
The player auction for the fifth season of the International League T20 (ILT20) will be held on October 1 at the ICC Academy's indoor facility in Dubai. More than 800 players from 20 countries across the globe have registered for this auction. Organizers are currently in the process of filtering this list to shortlist approximately 200 players.
Initially, there was some uncertainty regarding the auction date, but the organizers have now officially confirmed October 1.
Here are the full details regarding the ILT20 auction and the squad rules for all six teams:
1. Auction Purse and Budget Rules
Purse Budget: Each franchise will have an auction purse of USD 1,300,000. Additionally, any remaining funds from the $700,000 allocated for direct signings and retentions will be added to this purse.
Total Expenditure Limit: By the end of the auction, each franchise is required to spend a minimum of $1.5 million and a maximum of $2 million on its squad (this excludes the cost of the wildcard player added after the auction).
2. Squad Composition Rules
Number of Players: Each franchise's squad must consist of a minimum of 18 and a maximum of 23 players.
International and Associate Quota
- ICC Full Member nations: At least 11 players (including a mandatory minimum of 4 from Afghanistan and 1 from Ireland).
- UAE players: At least 4 players.
- Kuwait and Saudi Arabia: At least 1 player from each of these two countries.
- Other Associate nations: At least 1 player from Associate nations other than the UAE, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.
3. Base Price
The minimum base price for players has been set at $10,000. Additionally, players may opt for base price categories of $40,000 or $80,000. Player registration for the auction was completed between July and September 12.
4. Right to Match (RTM) Card Rules
During the auction, each franchise will have the option to use 4 Right to Match (RTM) cards:
- 1 Full Member player: Who played for that franchise in Season 4 (including players from Afghanistan and Ireland).
- 1 Associate Member player: Who was part of the franchise in Season 4.
- 1 UAE player: Who played in Season 4 or was part of the franchise's development team during the 2026 ILT20 Development Tournament.
- 1 player from Kuwait or Saudi Arabia: Who represented the team in Season 4.
5. Replacement Players (Replacement Rules)
If a player gets injured, is selected for the national team, or fails to obtain an NOC from their cricket board, they may be replaced at any time up until the conclusion of the league stage.
- Approval from the ILT20 Technical Committee will be required for any replacement once the tournament support period has commenced.
- Replacement players for the mandatory quota (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Afghanistan, or Ireland) must be selected from the pool of players registered for the auction. However, players from other countries are not required to be registered for the auction.
