After the Indian Premier League in 2023, Ambati Rayudu announced his retirement from cricket. Ambati Rayudu, a former cricket player from India, entered politics on Thursday. In Vijayawada, he joined the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) with Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. YSRCP MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Narayan Swamy were also at the function.

In the presence of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in Vijayawada joined the governing Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) of Andhra Pradesh. Additionally present were YSRCP MP Peddireddy Mithun Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Narayan Swamy.
2023 saw Rayudu's retirement from cricket following the Indian Premier League. He is an Andhra Pradesh native and has played cricket for the state. He was a member of Team India also.
In June, he declared his intention to enter politics. Following May, the 37-year-old cricket player visited his hometown of Guntur district to learn about the problems that the local populace was facing.
"To better serve the people, I plan to enter Andhra Pradesh politics shortly. Before that, I have decided to travel to various areas of the district to have a sense of the people's well-being and comprehend their issues," Rayudu had informed local media.
He had said, "I will present a clear action plan outlining my approach to politics and the platform I would support."
Rayudu had complimented the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh in April of this year.
He had written on X, "Great speech.. our chief minister @ysjagan garu.. everyone in the state has complete belief in you, sir."
Ambati Rayudu scored 1694 runs at an average of 47.06 over his 55 ODI appearances.
