England squad for Pakistan ODI tri-series 2026: England has announced its squad for the tour of Pakistan. The team will play an ODI tri-series in Pakistan, for which 16 players have been selected.
England Announce Squad for Pakistan ODI Tri-Series: Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer Out
England has suffered a major blow ahead of the ODI tri-series in Pakistan. The team's star batsman Jos Buttler and fast bowler Jofra Archer will not be part of the series. Buttler was ruled out due to a hamstring injury sustained during the second ODI, while Archer has been rested to manage his workload following England's home season.
16-Player Squad Named for the Series
England has announced a 16-player squad for the upcoming tri-series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Leg-spinner Adil Rashid has returned to the team; he had missed the recent three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka—which England won 2-1—due to a hand injury.
All-rounder Sam Curran has also returned to the squad after recovering from a groin injury. Additionally, Glamorgan leg-spinner Mason Crane has been recalled to the England national team after nearly eight years. Crane last played an international match in 2018; he has played two T20Is and was also part of the England squad for the Sydney Ashes Test against Australia in January 2018. However, he has not yet made his international debut in ODI cricket.
Two new players get a chance in the team
England has included two players in its squad who have not yet played international cricket. Sussex's James Coles and Henry Crocombe have been part of England's white-ball setup this summer and have now been given another opportunity. Marcus North, the National Selector for the England men's team, stated that the tri-series would provide the players with a chance to test themselves in varying conditions.
Apart from England, the teams from Pakistan and Sri Lanka will participate in this tri-series. These matches will be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore. The three teams will play against each other in a double round-robin format, after which the top two teams on the points table will face off in the final. The final will be played on October 31 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
