ECB Announces Central Contracts for 30 Players: Full List
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) released the list of new central contracts for players on Monday. It marks the return of 32-year-old fast bowler Ollie Robinson, who last held such a contract in 2023. The board has selected a total of 39 players: 30 have been awarded main central contracts, while nine have received development contracts aimed at nurturing young talent.
7 Players Receive Central Contracts for the First Time
In this new list, seven players—Tom Banton, Sam Cook, Jordan Cox, Henry Crocombe, Emilio Gay, Matthew Fisher, and Dan Lawrence—have been awarded central contracts for the first time. Additionally, the contracts of Sonny Baker, Jordan Cox, and Henry Crocombe have been extended by two years. The contracts for all 11 of these players will remain valid until September 30, 2028.
With an eye on the future and the aim of nurturing young talent, England has also revised its list of development contracts. James Coles, Mason Crane, Ben McKinney, Liam Patterson-White, Thomas Rew, and Matthew Revis have been included in this category for the first time.
Notably, Mason Crane has returned to the senior team setup after more than eight years, while 18-year-old Thomas Rew is the youngest player on the list; he captained England in the Under-19 World Cup final earlier this year. Josh Hull, Eddie Jack, and Mitch Stanley are also part of this list, bringing the total number of players in this category to nine.
ECB Makes Changes to Coaching Staff
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has implemented several major changes to the team's coaching staff. Mike Yardy has been appointed as the lead batting coach, while Richard Dawson has been entrusted with the responsibility for spin bowling. Meanwhile, Troy Cooley will continue in his role as the fast bowling coach. Richard Dawson, Marcus Trescothick, James Foster, and Eric Simons will work alongside Test team head coach Stephen Fleming.
Additionally, Sarah Taylor, Jeetan Patel, and Tim Southee have been added to the white-ball coaching staff, while former legend Kevin Pietersen has been assigned a special role as a mentor. This new coaching staff will oversee preparations for England's upcoming tours, which include a Test series in South Africa and a limited-overs series in Australia.
