The chairman of the Mahindra & Mahindra Group, Anand Mahinda, expressed his opinions about the most recent USA-Pakistan T20 World Cup encounter. He claimed to have 'stayed up to get some mild entertainment' on X, the previous Twitter platform, but instead 'got was a slice of history' in a post.
In the opening Group A match of the T20 World Cup in Dallas on Thursday, the co-host USA defeated Pakistan. Having scored 159 runs between the two sides in the ordinary 20 overs, the USA beat the 2009 winners in a historic 'Super Over' tiebreaker.
The first significant upset of the current T20 World Cup 2024 was caused on Thursday by the newcomers USA, who shocked the reigning champions Pakistan via the Super Over. Pakistan was asked to bat first and finished the 20 overs allowed with 159 for seven. After putting on a great display, the USA finished at 159 for three. Pakistan could only manage 13 for one in the Super Over, while the USA hammered 18 runs for the cost of one wicket. The outcome is similar to Pakistan's devastating defeat against Ireland in the 2007 ODI World Cup.
