Usman Khawaja became the 11th Australian opener to score a Test century in India. By the way, Khawaja became the first Australian opener since 2010 to score a Test century in India. Earlier, Shane Watson was the last Australian opener to score a Test century in India. If we note from 2001, Khawaja became the third Australian opener to score a Test century in India.

Usman Khawaja opened the innings with Travis Head (32) and fought the Indian bowlers hard. Khawaja took his time to settle at the crease and didn't play a bad shot. Wickets were falling at one end, but Khawaja did not take the pressure and stood at one end to put Australia in a strong position.

Usman Khawaja shared a 79-run partnership for the third wicket with captain Steve Smith. He then took Cameron Green (49 *) together and both shared an 85-run partnership till stumps. Usman Khawaja, 36, remained unbeaten at stumps after scoring 104 runs in 251 balls with the help of 15 fours. Green returned with him unbeaten, scoring an unbeaten 49 off 64 balls with eight fours.
