Afghanistan vs Ireland 2026 ODI series: The Afghanistan cricket team is once again ready to showcase its prowess on foreign soil. The team has announced its squad for the upcoming ODI series against Ireland.

Afghanistan Announce ODI Squad for 5-Match Tour of Ireland

The two teams will face each other in a five-match ODI series. Afghanistan has named a 15-member squad along with four reserve players for the series. Notably, experienced all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has not been included in the squad.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has appointed Rahmat Shah as the new captain and Rahmanullah Gurbaz as the vice-captain for this five-match ODI series. Afghanistan's star spinner and former captain, Rashid Khan, is making his return to the ODI squad. Notably, the ACB had to appoint a new captain for the ODI and Test formats following Hashmatullah Shahidi's resignation a few days ago. The Afghanistan Cricket Board announced this change in leadership through an official statement. The tour of Ireland will mark Rahmat Shah's first assignment as the full-time captain of the Afghanistan cricket team.

It is worth noting that the ODI series between Ireland and Afghanistan will begin on August 5 in Bready, and the second match will also be played at the same venue on August 7. The remaining three matches will take place in Belfast; the third, fourth, and fifth matches will be played on August 10, August 12, and August 15.

Reserve players: Qais Ahmad, Fareed Malik, Bilal Sami, Bashir Ahmad.
