DALLAS — The National Cricket League (NCL) and the University of Texas at Dallas unveiled its new cricket stadium, with enough seats for more than 3,500 fans, ahead of the Sixty Strikes Tournament set to begin Friday, Oct. 4.
In a press release, the NCL said the stadium will allow spectators to enjoy world-class matches alongside "Coachella-style entertainment."
According to the NCL, the stadium was designed with solar power and a zero-waste policy, which coincides with the league's effort to become fully environmentally friendly by 2030. The NCL said for every boundary hit during the Sixty Strikes Tournament, a tree will be planted as part of the league's reforestation efforts.
"Our mission is not only to promote the sport of cricket but to make a positive impact on the communities we touch," Chairman of the NCL Arun Agarwal said in the press release. "This stadium shows that vision. It represents the merging of sports and sustainability, as we aim to give back to the community and the environment."
