NRG Stadium (formerly known as Reliant Stadium, and which is set to be renamed Reliant Stadium once again) is a multi-purpose stadium located in Houston, Texas, U.S., featuring a retractable roof. Its construction was completed in 2002 at a cost of $352 million, and it has a seating capacity of 72,220.[10][11] It was the first NFL venue to feature a retractable roof. The stadium serves as the primary home for the National Football League's Houston Texans, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Texas Bowl, numerous matches involving the United States men's national soccer team, friendly matches hosted by the Mexico national football team (where *El Tri* acts as the home team), and various other events. The stadium has hosted major events such as Super Bowls XXXVIII (2004) and LI (2017), the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship, and WrestleMania 25 (2009). Several matches are scheduled to be played at this stadium during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. NRG Stadium is part of a complex of venues—including the Astrodome—collectively known as NRG Park. The entire complex was named in 2000 following a 32-year, $300 million naming rights agreement with NRG Energy.
