Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer have been left out of the BCCI's annual central contract. While one holds the record for scoring the fastest double century in ODI history, the other is the batsman who scored the most runs in the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, in one fell swoop BCCI fell upon both of them. There are talks going on about not considering the names of these two in future tournaments also. He may also be dropped from the T20 World Cup starting in June.
Ishan and Shreyas may have their own reasons for not following BCCI norms, but the board had nothing to do with it. Therefore, two players who were an integral part of the Indian cricket scheme of things till recently are no longer even part of the central contract and are a long way away from returning to the team. Ishan Kishan vs BCCI controversy: This whole controversy started in December. In December, Ishan had suddenly requested to release himself from the Indian team in South Africa and the BCCI had agreed to it. It was believed that the reason behind his withdrawal was that he was not mentally prepared and wanted a break. In between, some reports came out in which it was said that Ishaan was not happy with not being selected repeatedly in the playing eleven. Apart from this, he was seen partying in Dubai, which BCCI did not like. Although these two alleged incidents have never been confirmed, they are believed to have played a significant role.

Why Shreyas Iyer removed from BCCI contract?: As far as Shreyas Iyer is concerned, his case is surrounded by a lot of mystery. The only problem with Iyer until a few weeks ago was his form, as he failed to make an impact in the first two Test matches against England. But as time progressed and he was dropped from the remaining three Tests, the picture became clearer. In some reports it was said that Shreyas was suffering from back spasms. However, the reason for his exclusion from the team is his form.

Like Ishan, Shreyas was also expected to play for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, but when he complained of a back injury and due to this he did not play Ranji matches for Mumbai, the BCCI decided to investigate. A statement by the NCA physio changed the whole game. Physio said that Shreyas has no injury and is completely fit to play. Shreyas then made himself available for Mumbai's Ranji Trophy semi-finals, but it was too late. Meanwhile, Shreyas was also spotted at the KKR training camp, which apparently angered the selectors and they decided to release him from the contract.
