Shooting: Indians fail to reach 10m rifle mixed team final

In what has been a bad day for the Indian shooters, both teams are out of the finals post poor show in the qualification.
Indian team of Divyansh Panwar and Elavenil Valarivan finish 12th with a combined score of 626.5 while the second Indian team of Deepak Kumar and Anjum Moudgil finish 18th with a combined score of 623.8 in the 10m air rifle mixed team first qualification.

10m mixed rifle event: Second series

Divyansh Panwar and Elavenil Valarivan shoot a second series combined score of 208.1 to be placed on the 15th spot after the second series in the qualification first stage.
Meanwhile, Deepak Kumar and Anjum Moudgill shoot a second series combined score of 210.3 and are placed on the 19th spot.

Satwik/Chirag recover in the second half to take the first game 21-17 against Vendy/Lane. Even though India cant progress to quarters anymore, Satwik-Chirag are making sure they go out with a roar.

Table Tennis: Sharath Kamal loses

Achanta Sharath Kamal loses 4-1 to Ma Long in the third round of mens singles table tennis, ending the Indian campaign in the discipline at the Olympics.
There wasnt much chance either, as the 39-year-old came up against a player with many nicknames - The Dictator, The Dragon, The Captain, The Greatest of All Time, and his name translates to horse dragon - and even more accolades. The Chinese stalwart is the defending Olympic Champion, a three-time singles World Championship gold medallist, two-time World Cup winner, and a World No 1 for 64 months (34 of them in a row).

Table Tennis: Sharath Kamal up next against defending champion Ma Long

Achanta Sharath Kamal is keeping the Indian flag flying in the Tokyo Olympic Games after his compatriots Manika Batra and Sutirtha Mukherjee left the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, the table tennis venue, on Monday. Sharath, the top Indian paddler beat an in-form Tiago Apolonia from Portugal 2-11, 11-8, 11-5, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9 to enter the third round of the men’s singles event.
In the third round on Tuesday morning, the nine-time national champion will be up against the defending champion and second-seed Ma Long, 32, of China. The rivals have met four times so far in the past 12 years – from 2007 to 2019. Ma Long holds a 4-0 record against Sharath: In 2007 Volkswagen Open in Chiba, Japan; in 2011PronTour Swedish Open; 2012 Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament, Hong Kong and 2019 ITTF Asian Cup, Yokohama in Japan.

Its a must-win match for the Indian badminton pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy as they face the lowest ranked team of the group. The top two teams from Group A progress to quarterfinals

Hockey: INDIA WIN

India return to winning ways, beat Spain comfortably after 7-1 loss to Australia. The 3-0 comfortable win for the men in blue is indeed morale-boosting and takes them a step closer to the quarterfinals.

Thrilling end to the 1st quarter! India leads Spain by 2-0 via goals from Surender from an open play and Rupinder from a penalty stroke. Simranjit Singh sweeps a superb low shot well beyond the keeper and into the bottom corner to give India the lead in the 14th minute. Rupinder Pal Singh smashed in a penalty stroke the very next minute.

Shooting: Manu/Saurabh finish 7th, fail to qualify for medal event

Manu Bhaker and Saurabh Chaudhary crash out of Qualifying Stage 2 with a score of 380 and miss the medal rounds of the 10m air pistol mixed team event. They looked imperious in stage 1 but three 8s from Manu in the second cost them dear. India havent qualified for the 10m pistol final. Finish seventh in qualifying behind China 1, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, Iran and China 2.

Now I would call it a disaster! This was a calculated and biggest hope from #Shooting #TeamIndia and lets not blame luck.. rather everything gained after this can come with the little help of luck!

Shooting: Air pistol mixed team qualification Stage 2 First series

Not a great start to the second stage of qualification by the Indian pair. Saurabh and Manu finish the first series in the second qualification stage with combined score of 188. The pair is currently placed last in the second stage. They must finish among the top four teams to have a chance for the medal.

Some shooters need to mess up from the top, else things are getting really ugly.. perhaps only 10s from here can save them

Hockey: India vs Spain

The Indian men hockey team takes on Spain after their 7-1 loss against Australia.India is looking to get back to winning ways while Spain will look to register their first win of the Olympics. After the poor result against Australia, Manpreet Singh and his team will need to show some character here.

Shooting: Manu/Saurabh top qualification stage 1

The Indian mixed team of Saurabh Chaudhary and Manu Bhaker tops the qualification stage 1 with a score of 582 in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. The duo combines to score a total of 582 out of possible 600 and is off to stage 2.The second Indian team of Abhishek Verma and Yashaswini Deswal miss the stage 2, crash out after finishing 17th among 20 teams.

Shooting: Air pistol mixed team qualification second series

The Indian pair goes a little (only a little) off target in the second series. A 95 from Manu Bhaker and a 97 from Saurabh give India a combined total of 388 to slip to second place in the qualification rankings. Manu and Saurabh have finished their second series of 10-shots each. They have accumulated a total of 194/200 points in their 2nd series. Abhishek Verma, Yashaswini Singh in trouble.
