In 2022, there was a fierce dispute in the match between Pakistan and Bangladesh in which Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh clashed with the umpire. In the 11th over of Bangladesh's innings, the ball hit Shakib's pad. Pakistan team appealed.

The umpire gave out, but Shakib took review. It was clearly visible in the review that the ball first hit Shakib's bat and then the pad. But the third umpire gave him out. Meanwhile, Shakib started arguing with the umpire and walked out in anger.

In this World Cup, South Africa's wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock had withdrawn his name from the match to be played against West Indies. De Kock had taken this decision for personal reasons, but later it was revealed that De Kock was against the decision of getting down on one knee to express his protest against the discrimination against black people across the world in the match against West Indies. One such example is the 2009 T20 World Cup. Australia had also entered this World Cup as a contender but Cricket Australia had taken a big decision in this tournament. The board had called veteran all-rounder Andrew Symonds back home from the beach tournament. As soon as this news came out, there was panic. Cricket Australia had reported that Symonds broke team rules several times in the last 24 hours, which also included rules regarding drinking alcohol.
