Sunil Narine created new records by scoring his first century in IPL

Kolkata Knight Riders opener Sunil Narine created a series of records by scoring a century against Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday. The left-handed batsman scored 109 runs in 56 balls in the 31st match of IPL 2024. Sunil Narine hit 13 fours and six sixes during his innings at Eden Gardens. On the basis of Narine's innings, Kolkata Knight Riders scored 223 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. Jos Buttler's (107*) century on Narine's innings helped Rajasthan Royals win by 2 wickets. Even though KKR failed to win the match, Sunil Narine won the hearts of the fans with his performance.

• Sunil Narine became the only player in IPL history to score a century and take five wickets in an innings.


• Sunil Narine scored the first century for KKR in Kolkata.


• Sunil Narine became the 50th player to score a century in IPL. Brendon McCullum scored the first century in IPL history.


• Sunil Narine became the third player in IPL to score centuries in First Class, List A and T20 matches. Before this, Manish Pandey (2009) and Paul Valthaty (2011) had done this feat.


• Sunil Narine became the first player to score a century, take a catch and take a wicket in an IPL match.


• Sunil Narine completed 4000 runs in T20 career. He is the only cricketer who scored less than 500 runs in first class cricket and more than 4000 runs in the T20 format.


• Sunil Narine became the fourth player in the world to score more than 4000 runs and take more than 400 wickets in T20 cricket. Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell and Shakib Al Hasan have previously been a part of this club.
