Former Sri Lankan cricketer Sachitra Senanayake was arrested on Wednesday on charges of match-fixing. He surrendered before the Sports Corruption Investigation Unit on Thursday morning. Please tell that three weeks ago the court had banned him from traveling abroad.
Sachitra Senanayake was accused of trying to fix matches in the 2020 edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), where he allegedly lured two players to fix matches.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court had ordered the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration to impose a travel ban, which will be in effect for a period of three months. The court was told on Thursday that the Special Investigation Unit of the Sports Ministry had directed the Attorney General's Department to frame criminal charges against the former off-spinner.
Sachitra Senanayake was famous for his off-spin bowling and line and length. He was known for his rare ability to bowl the carrom ball with great accuracy, particularly while bowling. Overall, he took 53 wickets in ODIs and 25 wickets in T20Is. In domestic cricket in Sri Lanka, Senanayake has taken 567 wickets in 112 first-class matches. However, the controversy threatens to overshadow his achievements on the field.
