Sri Lanka Women win first Asia Cup in 20 years

Sri Lanka has created history by winning the Women's Asia Cup 2024 title. The team defeated India by 8 wickets in the final. Sri Lankan captain Chamari Atapattu scored 61 and Harshita Samarawickrama scored 69 runs. Both also shared a partnership of 87 runs. Sri Lanka became the champion for the first time in the Women's Asia Cup, which started in 2004, before this the team was runner-up 5 times. At the same time, India lost the Women's Asia Cup final for the second time. The team was earlier defeated by Bangladesh in 2018. India has won the Women's Asia Cup 7 times.

Jemima Rodrigues was dismissed after scoring 29 runs and Richa Ghosh after scoring 30 runs. Kavisha Dilhari took 2 wickets for Sri Lanka. Sachin Nishansala and Chamari Atapattu got one wicket each. For India, Shefali Verma scored 16, Harmanpreet Kaur scored 11, Uma Chhetri scored 9 and Pooja Vastrakar scored 5 runs.
