Highlights of the SL vs. Ban Asia Cup 2022 match: Chasing a score of 184, Sri Lanka maintained composure to defeat Bangladesh in 19.2 overs and go to the Asia Cup's Super 4. As they refused to buckle under pressure, opener Kusal Mendis' 37-ball 60 and captain Dasin Shanaka's 33-ball 45 helped Sri Lanka win the chase. Bangladesh has previously scored a total of 183 for seven. After Bangladesh was in trouble at 87 for four, Afif Hossain (39), together with Mahmudullah, put together a 57-run partnership. Despite wickets falling at the other end, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (38) gave Bangladesh an early lead. After winning the toss, Sri Lanka decided to bowl.
With two legal deliveries left, Sri Lanka will have eliminated the remaining target and will join India and Afghanistan as the third side to advance to the Super Four. Maheesh Theekshana added a run at the start of Mahedi Hasan's over courtesy to a leg bye. The second delivery was then slog-swept by Asitha Fernando to long on for a four. Hasan overstepped off the third ball, resulting in a no ball. Fernando quickly scored two runs, allowing Sri Lanka to chase down the goal of 184 in 19.2 Overs and win by two wickets. Sri Lanka did not bowl any wides or no-balls compared to Bangladesh's eight wides and four no-balls.
