Mavi had been troubled by a groin injury and has now been ruled out of the remaining matches of the season. Mavi did not get the opportunity to play a single match for Hyderabad this season. Now, he is out of the entire tournament. Ambarish, who has been inducted into the squad in his place, has previously represented India at the Under-19 World Cup. He is also adept at generating swing with the ball.

The IPL has officially confirmed Mavi's withdrawal from the tournament. Issuing a media advisory, the IPL stated that Sunrisers Hyderabad has inducted RS Ambarish into the squad as a replacement for Shivam Mavi following his injury. Right-arm fast bowler Mavi has been ruled out of the current season due to a back injury. He has been replaced in the squad by all-rounder RS ββAmbarish, who was a member of the Indian team that won the 2026 Under-19 World Cup. A right-arm medium-pacer and left-handed batsman, Ambarish will join SRH for a sum of βΉ30 lakh.
Who Is RS Ambrish?
Ambareesh was born on May 28, 2007, in Chennai. He also represented India in the 2026 Under-19 World Cup. Playing for Team India, this young cricketer delivered a magnificent bowling performance; he finished the tournament as the joint-highest wicket-taker, claiming 11 wickets. His father, R. Sukumar, is a former cricketer who played at the Under-19 level and also captained Tamil Nadu.
He currently runs a cricket academy in Chennai. Ambareesh is known for his ability to swing the ball. He also made his debut in the Ranji Trophy last season; across two matches, he scored 43 runs with the bat and took two wickets with his bowling.
