After IPL 2024, Rishabh Pant will be included in the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in West Indies and America. The 26-year-old, who was involved in a horrific car accident 16 months ago, is expected to return to the national team in the upcoming World Cup, reports Cricbuzz.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had hinted that Rishabh Pant's return to the Indian team is possible only if he performs well with the bat and also does excellent wicketkeeping in the ongoing IPL edition. And this is happening in reality too, making the much-awaited comeback easier for the Delhi Capitals captain.
Delhi Capitals are at the bottom of the points table after winning once in five matches, but Pant has scored 50+ scores this season, that too at a good strike rate. Overall, he has scored 153 runs in five innings with a strike rate of 154.55.
Rishabh Pant's return to India means that when the Indian team takes the field for the T20 World Cup, Jitesh Sharma will not be included in the playing eleven. Jitesh was the frontrunner to play the role of a big wicketkeeper behind the wicket, but after Pant's return, it is expected that he will be in the team but not among the starting players.
