Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has described IPL as a great opportunity for any team to prepare for the World Cup. Ponting, who is playing the role of Delhi Capitals head coach in the IPL, feels that the way Australias big players have been sitting out for the last several months, there can be no better preparation for them than in the IPL.

Talking to Cricket Australia, Ponting said, "Players who havent played cricket for the last three, four or five months, now they have to get back into the rhythm of high-level cricket that too where the best player in the world is faced.
