Ravichandran Ashwin raised his voice on RTM rule before IPL mega auction

RTM rule in IPL: Ahead of the upcoming season of IPL, Ravichandran Ashwin has shared his views on the Right to Match (RTM) rule with the fans. It is worth noting that there is going to be a mega auction in IPL 2025, and there is a possibility that the RTM rule may also come back.

It is worth noting that when the mega auction took place in IPL 2022, the RTM rule was not used at that time. However, most of the franchises are in favor of this rule in the upcoming season. But now veteran cricketer and Rajasthan Royals player Ashwin has made a big statement regarding this. Ashwin has said that this rule only harms the player and nothing else.

R Ashwin raised his voice on RTM rule before IPL mega auction

R. Ashwin gave his reaction on RTM rule: Right-handed all-rounder Ashwin believes that the RTM rule will be unfair to the player and due to this he may suffer a loss in terms of earnings in the auction. He explained how a team has the option to RTM a player. After using it, the franchise will bid at the base price of the player, due to which the player does not get more money according to the value.

Talking openly about this rule on his YouTube channel, Ashwin said, 'Nothing can be more unfair to a player than RTM, because how has the RTM rule been so far? For example, there is a player named X. He was a player of a team named Sunrisers. His current price is around five to six crores. After he comes to the auction, the Sunrisers team wants to buy him back. So the Sunrisers team will bid for the player at a base price of two crores.

In the auction, the teams of KKR and Mumbai Indians are bidding for that player. The bid is up to six crores. In the auction, the player was sold by Mumbai Indians for six crores. Therefore, Sunrisers will bid six crores for the player and the player will join their squad. In this way, Mumbai Indians will not be able to include him in the squad despite placing the highest bid on that player in the auction.

Ashwin said that only the franchise will get the benefit of the RTM card rule. If a franchise gets three RTMs, then the players will not get anything. Their value is already low in the mega auction.
