In the T20 World Cup 2024, Assadollah Vala, the captain of Papua New Guinea, will still be in charge of the Barramundis. Vala, an accomplished player who led PNG in their last T20 World Cup appearance, is well-known for his dependable all-around performance. He has also played a key role in leading the side through the regional qualifiers. As PNG's skipper for 54 T20Is, he has a wealth of experience, having won 31, lost 21, and one match with no outcome. Vala intends to confidently guide PNG and make an impression on the competition.
Tatenda Taibu, a former wicketkeeper-batter and cricketer from Zimbabwe, is the head coach of the Papua New Guinea cricket team. Before his retirement in 2012 at the age of 29, Taibu captained Zimbabwe. Before becoming the head coach of PNG, he had development positions in Zimbabwe and England. He replaced Nathan Reardon, a former Australian international who is still employed as an assistant coach. Since taking over as head coach, Taibu has introduced a methodical and strategic approach to PNG's preparation to assist the team in becoming a worldwide force.
