Earlier in the Doha Diamond League also, he had secured the first position by throwing 88.67 meters. It was a great comeback for Chopra. He had not participated in any competition since the Doha Diamond League on 5 May, pulled out of the FBK Games and Paavo Nurmi Games earlier this month due to injury.

Neeraj Chopra won this title with a throw of 87.66 meters in the fifth round of this league, although he started with a foul in this round and then threw 83.52 meters, then 85.04 meters. After this, there was another foul in the fourth round, but in the very next round, he threw 87.66 meters. Neeraj's last throw was 84.15 meters but no player could match Neeraj's fifth round and he won the Diamond League.
