Most ICC Player of the Month Awards: The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the best players of the month for September on Tuesday, October 13. Indian cricket team's ODI and Test captain Shubman Gill has received the Men's ICC Player of the Month award for September. Meanwhile, in the women's category, India's explosive opener and player famously known as 'Lady Sehwag', Shafali Verma, has claimed the title.

Shubman Gill has been rewarded for his stellar performance in the ODI series against the West Indies last month. Meanwhile, Shafali Verma batted brilliantly at the 2026 Asian Games, playing a pivotal role in the Indian women's cricket team's successful defense of their Asian Games gold medal.
This marks Shafali Verma's second ICC Player of the Month award. She previously won the award in November 2025 after playing a magnificent innings in the Women's World Cup final against South Africa.

This is Shubman Gill's record-equaling fifth ICC Player of the Month award. With this achievement, Gill has become the joint-record holder for the most wins of this award globally. West Indies women's team captain Hayley Matthews has also won this trophy a record five times.
If Gill secures this honor once more, he will become the first player across both men's and women's categories to win the ICC Player of the Month award the highest number of times.

Upon receiving this special honor, Shubman Gill expressed his delight while speaking to the ICC and said:

The pace of ODI cricket has increased significantly; you have to make split-second decisions, assess conditions rapidly, and adapt yourself according to the demands of the pitch and the target."
