Ten locations will hold the competition, co-hosted by the United States of America (USA) and the West Indies. In 2024, it will be performed from June 4 to June 30. This will be the first-ever official ICC World Cup event in the United States.
After winning the title in 2022, England is currently the defending champion. West Indies, the host team, and England have won two titles a piece, making them the most successful teams in the competition's history.
Four extra players will be added to the T20I World Cup squad for the 2024 competition. Unlike the 16 teams from the last edition in 2022, twenty teams have qualified for the competition.
There will be four groups of five teams each out of the twenty teams. The top two teams from each group advance to the Super 8 first round of the knockouts.
The eight qualifying teams will now be split into two groups of four players each. The Semi-Final, or final four, will include the top two teams from each group. In the Final, the Semi-Final winners will compete for the trophy.
Together with the two host countries, the USA and the West Indies, the top eight teams from the T20I World Cup 2022 automatically qualified for the T20I World Cup in 2024. Additionally, the two squads ranked second and third in the ICC Rankings automatically qualified.
Teams that won the regional qualifiers occupied the remaining eight spots. The areas of Europe, Asia, and Africa each received two spots. Meanwhile, the Americas and East Asia Pacific regions each received one place.
