Jofra Archer returns in International cricket after march 2021

Jofra Archer, a fast bowler, has been chosen in Englands 14-man squad for the three-match One-Day International series in South Africa next month. In addition, in-form batsman Harry Brook has received his maiden call-up for the 50-over format.

Following his selection for the 14-man ODI team for the England tour of South Africa in January, Jofra Archer is ready to play his first match for England in over two years.

Archer last competed in an international match in March 2021, during Englands T20I tour of India. He was the highest wicket-taker for England in their 2019 ODI World Cup win.

His career has recently been hampered by a chronic elbow problem that has necessitated two surgeries, as well as a stress fracture in his lower back that prevented him from playing the full 2022 home summer.

Harry Brook, who has been playing well, also received his first ODI team call-up. Ben Duckett, who recently led England to a 3-0 victory over Pakistan in a Test match, is also back for the first time since 2016 in the ODI lineup.

Reece Topley of Surrey is recovering well from a left ankle injury and should be fit for the three-match series. Harry Brook, a talented hitter from Yorkshire who has made an impression this winter for England, has been called up to the ODI squad for the first time and will be hoping to add to his Test and Twenty20 matches for the Three Lions.

Jos Buttler will be the captain of a team that has several well-known players and a potent pace attack with many all-rounders. The team also includes Olly Stone, David Willey, Sam Curran, and Chris Woakes in addition to Topley and Archer, who are all back.

The injury Jonny Bairstow suffered prior to the T20 World Cup is still healing for him. The squads top-order alternatives still include Ben Duckett, Jason Roy, Phil Salt, Harry Brook, and Dawid Malan.

Six days will be dedicated to the three-match series, which will include games in Bloemfontein and Kimberley. The series opening game will be played on January 27 in Bloem, while its finale will be played on February 1 in Kimberley.

Englands ODI Squad for South Africa: Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, Phil Salt, Olly Stone, Reece Topley, David Willey and Chris Woakes.
