IPL 2025: Who Could Score the Most Runs in RCB vs CSK Match?

The iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is set to witness a high-voltage encounter today, Saturday, May 3, as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (BLR) take on the Chennai Super Kings (CHE).

With three straight wins, including a resounding six-wicket victory against the Delhi Capitals in their most recent match, RCB has been in a purple patch. With 14 points from 10 matches (seven wins and three losses), the team is on the brink of securing a playoff berth and is pushing hard for a coveted top-two finish.

On the other hand, inconsistencies have plagued CSK's effort. Their recent defeat to Punjab Kings confirmed their exit from playoff contention, marking them as the first side to be officially knocked out this season. With only two wins from 10 matches, they are rooted at the bottom of the table. However, the men in yellow will look to salvage pride in their remaining fixtures and play fearless cricket.

As anticipation builds ahead of this marquee face-off, here’s a look at three batters who could potentially dominate the scoring charts in today’s contest:

3. Dewald Brevis (CSK)

Young South African sensation Dewald Brevis was a late addition to the CSK squad, coming in as a replacement for Gurjapneet Singh after going unsold in the mega auction. Despite featuring in only two matches so far, Brevis has made a strong impression, tallying 74 runs at an average of 37 and an explosive strike rate of 145.09.

In CSK's previous outing against Punjab Kings, Brevis scored a brisk 32 off 26 balls, peppering the field with a couple of boundaries and a six. While he couldn’t convert his start into a bigger score, he looked in fine touch. The compact dimensions of the Chinnaswamy Stadium could suit his aggressive style, and the franchise will be eager to see him end the season on a high, building momentum for 2026.

2. Rajat Patidar (RCB)

Rajat Patidar, leading RCB in his debut season as skipper, has shown maturity both with leadership and with the bat. Although his recent form has seen a slight dip, Patidar's overall numbers are solid — 228 runs in 10 games at a strike rate of 147.09, including two half-centuries.

One of his standout knocks came against CSK earlier in the season, where he smashed a 32-ball 51 at Chepauk, peppered with four fours and three sixes. As RCB eye a top-two finish, their captain will be keen to rediscover his touch and deliver a substantial innings in front of the home crowd today.

1. Virat Kohli (RCB)

Virat Kohli remains the heartbeat of RCB’s batting lineup and continues to lead from the front this season. With 443 runs from 10 innings, averaging a remarkable 63.28 and a strike rate close to 139, Kohli has already piled up six fifties — each one contributing to an RCB win.

Even though he only managed a meagre 31 off 30 balls in his most recent match against CSK in Chepauk, Kohli has an incredible record versus the men in yellow throughout the years. Back at his fortress in Bengaluru and in rich form, the stage seems set for the star batter to deliver another match-defining performance in this crucial encounter.

With RCB fighting for a top-table finish and CSK looking to play spoilsport, expect fireworks when these two southern giants collide. Whether it's the youthful exuberance of Brevis, the leadership resolve of Patidar, or the class of Kohli, all eyes will be on who lights up the Chinnaswamy tonight.
