Imran Tahir has become the fourth bowler in the world to take 500 or more wickets. The former South African bowler is playing for Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024. He achieved this record while playing against Khulna Tigers at Zahoor Ahmed Chaudhary Stadium in Chattogram on Tuesday.

Before this, West Indies bowlers Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine and Afghanistan's experienced spinner Rashid Khan have taken more than 500 wickets in T20 cricket. Imran Tahir reached the mark of 500 wickets in his 404th match.

While playing against Khulna Tigers, he took five wickets. He took the wickets of Alex Hales, Enamul Haq Bijoy, Afif Hussain Shrubbo, Habibul Rahman and Akbar Ali. He took five wickets for just 26 runs in four overs.
Playing for South Africa between 2013 and 2019, Imran Tahir took a total of 63 wickets in 38 T20 matches, taking four wickets twice and five wickets twice in an innings. He never played for South Africa after the 2019 World Cup.
