ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Which Spinner will be selected for team India?

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is just over a month away and the speculations around the team selection are increasing every day.

With quite a few spin bowling options in India's white-ball arsenal, the left-arm wrist spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, subject to his fitness is expected to lead the spin attack of India in Dubai.

India has only played 6 ODIs since the 2023 World Cup final and will play 3 more before the tournament begins. So, there is not a lot of scope for experimentation left.

Let us have a look at who are the options that India has in the spin bowling department.

Varun Chakravarthy

Varun Chakravarthy, known for his 'mystery spin,' has emerged as a strong contender for the Champions Trophy squad. His impressive performances in domestic cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL) have caught the selectors' attention. Chakravarthy's ability to bowl economical spells and take crucial wickets makes him a valuable asset for India's campaign.

Ravi Bishnoi

Another promising talent is leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi. Bishnoi has showcased his skills in various T20 leagues and domestic matches, earning praise for his wicket-taking abilities and composure under pressure. His inclusion could provide variety to India's spin attack.

Washington Sundar

All-rounder Washington Sundar is also in contention for a spot in the squad. Sundar's off-spin bowling, combined with his batting prowess, offers balance to the team. His experience in international cricket and adaptability to different conditions enhance his selection prospects.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja has been a mainstay of the Indian side for over a decade, contributing in all departments. Despite retiring from T20Is after the 2024 T20 World Cup, he is expected to be part of the Champions Trophy squad.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav has been India's lead spinner in ODIs for quite some time now and played all the matches of the 2023 World Cup, bagging 15 wickets at an economy of just 4.45. He is expected to lead the spin attack in the Champions Trophy, provided he is fit.

The final squad announcement is anticipated soon, with selectors aiming to balance experience and youth in the spin department. The chosen spinners will play a crucial role in India's pursuit of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 title.
