In the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, England won the first match against Bangladesh, after which the England team was successful in winning against Netherlands after losing five consecutive matches. In the match played in Pune, England had given a target of 340 runs to the Netherlands, in response to which the Netherlands were limited to only 179 runs. England won this match by 160 runs and achieved their second victory in this World Cup.

Ben Stokes scored the first century of the World Cup for England. He achieved this feat against Netherlands. Stokes scored 108 runs on 84 balls. He also made a partnership of 129 runs with Chris Woakes for the 7th wicket. He also became the first English player to score more than 10,000 runs and 100 wickets in international cricket.
