Several items will be discussed in the upcoming BCCI meeting with franchise owners, including the amount of players each club may keep, the probable return of the Right to Match (RTM) option, and the Impact Player regulation. However, the subject of defaulting international players has received a lot of attention recently. These are the overseas cricketers who withdraw from IPL seasons, disrupting franchise plans.
According to a report, numerous IPL teams have expressed concerns about the players' apparent lack of respect and devotion to the auction process. This issue has grown increasingly serious in recent years, with some high-profile withdrawals generating substantial issues for the teams involved.

During the 2024 IPL season, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) recalled their players before the playoffs to prioritize the T20 World Cup. England's captain, Jos Buttler, who represents the Rajasthan Royals, voiced that international matches should not coincide with the IPL.
"In my view, no international cricket should overlap with the IPL. These games have been scheduled for a while. As the World Cup approaches, the top priority is to play and perform for England. I believe this is the best preparation," Buttler stated.
Additionally, reports highlight that some foreign players skip the mega-auction to join the mini-auction, where they often receive higher bids. The BCCI is aware of these patterns and plans to address these concerns in a meeting with franchise owners.
According to the source, several participants choose not to participate in the big auction. Instead, they seek out mini-auctions, where they may gain larger contracts than those obtained in the mega auction.
The BCCI will meet with the CEOs of the IPL franchises later on Wednesday (July 31).
Unlike prior meetings between the BCCI and the IPL clubs, genuine conversations should take place now, since there are several issues before the attention switches to the super auction.
