Australia has announced its preliminary 15-man squad for the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to commence on February 19 in Pakistan. Pat Cummins has been named captain, despite concerns about his availability due to an ankle injury sustained during the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against India.
The Australian squad for Champions Trophy 2025 includes all-rounders Matt Short and Aaron Hardie, both earning their maiden call-ups for an ICC event. Fast bowler Nathan Ellis has also been selected, rewarded for his impressive performances in the Big Bash League with the Hobart Hurricanes.
Notably absent from the squad is young opener Jake Fraser-McGurk, who was omitted following a series of underwhelming performances in the Big Bash League. Additionally, Cameron Green is unavailable as he continues his recovery from back surgery.
