New Zealands star all-rounder Amelia Kerr has created history. Amelia Kerr has become the first New Zealand cricketer to receive the prestigious Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy. Amelia was named the best female cricketer of 2024 by the ICC. 24-year-old Amelia won this crown by defeating star players like Laura Wolvaardt, Chamari Atapattu and Annabel Sutherland.
The Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy was first awarded in 2017 and has since been shared between three players, including Australia's Ellyse Perry, India's Smriti Mandhana and England's Nat Sciver-Brunt who have won the award twice each. This time New Zealand's Amelia Kerr not only became the first New Zealand player to win the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, but also the first Kiwi to win the ICC Women's Cricketer of the Year in any form.

Amelia Kerr took a total of 15 wickets in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup and became the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. 24-year-old Amelia also made a significant contribution with the bat in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. She scored 43 runs in the final match against South Africa, which was the highest score by any player in the final from both teams.
