Aashish Kapoor Likely to Join Ahmedabad as Scout, Spin Coach

The renowned Aashish Kapoor is set to come back to the scenes and be part of the coaching staff of Ahmedabad (Lucknow Super Giants), an Indian Premier League team. Kapoor had a successful career as an Indian cricketer in the 90s and early 2000. The 50-year-old former spinner has an impressive record of playing 4 Tests and 17 ODIs.  Although this decision has not yet been finalized, the Ahmedabad players and Ashish Nehra (the head coach) are elated by the news.

When the negotiations are complete, which is definitely a matter of when than whether Kapoor will be part of the talent scouting team. His experience as the head of the national junior selection committee will go a long way to help the management source and build a young talent pool. Additionally, he will also be the spin bowling coach, a skill that he is excellent at. .

The Indian cricket fans have high hopes on the new management and team's performance. Aashish Kapoor Previous Achievements

This is actually not the first time Kapoor will be part of the IPL. In 2008, he was part of the Delhi franchise, where he worked for 7 years in several roles.

Aashish Kapoor is a former right-arm off-spinner and right-handed lower-order batsman and was a member of the 1996 Cricket World Cup. He began his career at the St Mary's School and was a prominent player in the TNCA schools tournament in 1987-88. During this tournament, he scored 400 in a row. This impressive record saw him win the Best Schoolboy Cricketer award from TNCA.

Other awards accorded to this successful cricketer include the JC Mukherjee award for the best U-17 cricketer. For the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Kapoor scored 130 against the North and 103& 58* against Central Zone. Additionally, he has a record of 304 against Goa in the Under-19 Ghulam Ahmed trophy.

Ahmedabad Current Performance

The Ahmedabad IPL management is working towards getting its name right in this IPL season. As such, the addition of new talent to the team will help boost their performance and ranking. Apart from Aashish Kapoor, the franchise has added Hardik Pandya as the team's captain. They have also roped in Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan. Other new members of the team include Ashish Nehra, who will be the Director of Coaching, and Gary Kirsten (a former India coach) as the team's mentor. The franchise has settled on Ahmedabad IPL official team name to be Lucknow Super Giants.

Andy Flower will be the head coach of the Lucknow team this season, and with all the talent and potential in this team, they are expected to have a successful season.
