Playing as a middle-order left-handed batsman and a slow left-arm orthodox spinner, he failed to impress with the bat in his 11 One Day Internationals (ODIs). Rohan Gavaskar retired from international cricket in 2012 but found solace in cricket commentary, occasionally making appearances alongside his father.

Dinesh Mongia's international career began with promise in 2001, where he showcased glimpses of his talent with a brilliant knock of 159 against Zimbabwe. As a batting all-rounder, Mongia was expected to make a significant impact. However, he struggled to maintain consistency and failed to deliver memorable performances. After a series of poor displays in 2005, he was dropped from the team. Mongia's career suffered a further setback when he was suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for participating in the unsanctioned Indian Cricket League (ICL). Despite the ban being lifted, he never donned the Indian jersey again and eventually retired from all forms of cricket at the age of 42. In 2021, Mongia joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the Punjab elections in 2022.

Venugopal Rao's international debut coincided with a period when the Indian cricket team was experimenting with new players. Rao, a lower middle-order batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler, displayed some promising performances during his stint with the national team from 2005 to 2006. However, his contributions were not substantial enough to secure a permanent place in the team. Despite participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with various franchises, Rao's career failed to gain momentum. He eventually retired from cricket in 2019, having made his last international appearance 14 years prior. Since then, he has remained relatively absent from the cricketing scene, neither venturing into commentary nor taking up coaching roles.

Joginder Sharma etched his name in cricketing folklore with his heroic last over in the 2007 T20 World Cup final against Pakistan, which India won. However, his fame was short-lived. Joginder, a right-arm medium-fast bowler, made his debut in 2004 and played a few IPL matches with the Chennai Super Kings. Unfortunately, his international career never took off, as he played only four ODIs and four T20Is for India. In 2011, Joginder suffered a serious car accident, marking the end of his professional cricketing journey. He bid farewell to the sport on February 3, 2023, and currently serves as a Deputy Superintendent in the Haryana Police.

Murali Karthik, a talented left-arm orthodox bowler, struggled to find a permanent role in the Indian cricket team due to the presence of renowned players like Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh. Although Karthik had a respectable international career spanning from 2000 to 2007, he couldn't cement his place as a regular player. In 37 ODIs, he took 37 wickets, while in eight Test matches, he claimed 24 wickets. Karthik also participated in the IPL, representing teams like the Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Kings XI Punjab. However, his economy rate of 7.24 proved to be a stumbling block, leading to his limited opportunities. He announced his retirement from cricket in 2021, bidding farewell to the game he dedicated himself to.
