After a Fight with Stomach Cancer, Veteran Actor Junior Mehmood Passes Away After a fight with stomach cancer, veteran actor Naeem Sayyed, well known as Junior Mehmood, passed away in Mumbai on Friday. He passed away in his Mumbai suburb of Khar. He was sixty-seven years old.
In a statement to IndianExpress.com, the actor's family confirmed his passing: "Junior Mehmood passed away at 2:15 am at his residence. He was suffering from stomach cancer. May his eternal soul rest in peace."
The actor, whose true name was Naeem Sayyed, passed away at home in Mumbai. His condition was discovered two weeks ago, and stage four cancer was identified. The actor passed away at home yesterday night as a result of his failing health.
Johnny Lever, an actor and comedian, visited the sick celebrity earlier to provide support at the trying time. He was visited by other performers, including Jeetendra and Sachin Pilgaonkar, with whom he had acted in several movies. Pilgaonkar and Junior Mehmood worked together on films that included "Brahmachari," "Geet Gaata Chal," and "Bachpan."
The late actor first went to a nearby doctor for treatment for stomach trouble, according to close friend Salaam Kazi, who spoke with PTI. But because of his severe weight loss, his family moved his case to Tata Memorial Hospital, where tests showed that he had liver and lung cancer in addition to a stomach tumour and jaundice.

Veteran performers like Jeetendra, Johnny Lever, and Sachin Pilgaonkar visited Junior Mehmood earlier this week on December 5. Respect was shown by Jeetendra, who acted alongside him in several films, including Suhaag Raat and Caravan.
In an Instagram post, Pilgaonkar asked followers to offer prayers for Sayyed's well-being, stating: "I request you all to pray for my childhood friend Jr Mehmood who's suffering with a fatal illness. I had a video conversation with him a couple of days ago and went to see him today but he was sleeping as he was under medication. I am in touch with his son and Johnny Lever regarding his health. May god bless him."
Junior Mehmood began his career as a child actor, appearing in films such as Mohabbat Zindagi Hai (1966) and Naunihal (1967). The late comic great Mehmood gave Junior Mehmood his stage name when they worked together on the 1968 film Suhag Raat.

Throughout his more than forty-year career, Junior Mehmood acted in over 260 films in seven different languages. Hits like Brahmachari, Kati Patang, and Hare Raama were among them.
