Paris Olympics 2024 Opening Ceremony: The biggest sports event, Paris Olympics, is starting today (26 July). The special thing is that this time the Olympic ceremony will be different in the 128-year history since the beginning of these games in 1896.
The grand opening of the great sports event i.e. Olympics is taking place from today (26 July). The opening ceremony of Paris 2024 Olympics will be held on the banks of river Seine. India has sent a team of 117 players to the Paris Olympics. This 117-member team includes half players from three sports - athletics (29), shooting (21) and hockey (19). Out of these 69 players, 40 players are participating in the Olympics for the first time.
For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony will not be held inside the stadium. This is the most special thing this time. The Olympics started in Athens in 1896, so this will be the first time in the 128-year history that the traditional parade of the countries participating in these games will be held on the banks of the Seine River, which flows through Paris. However, there is a possibility of rain during the Olympic ceremony.
The opening ceremony will see more than 10,000 Olympians sail on around 100 boats on the Seine River, passing some of Paris' iconic landmarks such as Notre Dame, Pont des Arts, Pont Neuf. The floating parade will start at the Austerlitz Bridge next to the Jardin des Plantes and end at the Trocadero, where the final show of the Olympic Ceremony will take place. The event is scheduled to last more than three hours.
French theatre director and actor Thomas Joly is overseeing the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies as artistic director.Two-time Olympic medallist badminton star PV Sindhu and table tennis legend Sharath Kamal, who is set to participate in his fifth Olympics, will lead the Indian team at the Olympics. Both these players will be the first players of their respective sports to be India's flag bearers at the Olympic opening ceremony.
Indian men's players will wear kurta bandi sets while women's players will wear matching sarees depicting the Indian tricolour flag at the opening ceremony of Paris Olympics. The dresses with traditional ikat inspired prints and Banarasi brocade have been designed by Tarun Tahiliani.
The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics will start at 11:00 pm IST in India. It will be telecast on Sports18 1 SD and Sports18 1 HD TV channels in India. Live streaming of Paris Olympics will be available for free on Jio Cinema.
