Hyundai Motor Company has launched the new Sportz (optional) variant of its popular hatchback i20 in the Indian market. The new optional variant is based on the Sports trim, which will come with a manual gearbox with single and dual-tone color options. The price of the new variant has been kept at Rs 8.73 lakh. Its price is Rs 35,000 more than the standard Sportz trim.
i20 is now available in five variants. This includes Era, Magna, Sportz, Sportz (O), Asta and Asta (O). Its ex-showroom price starts from Rs 7.04 lakh, which goes up to Rs 11.21 lakh in the top end variant. In the segment it competes with Tata Altroz, Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza.
The car comes with 6 airbags as standard and advanced safety features like ADAS. 3 new features have been given in the new variant of Hyundai i20. These include a wireless charger, leatherette finish on the door armrests and an electrically adjustable sunroof. The company launched its facelift version in September 2023.
Talking about the design, the front of the premium hatchback has a new parametric grille and LED headlamps setup with integrated LED DRLs. The bumper has been redesigned, giving the appearance of a racing skirt.
The new i20 does not get fog lamps, but the air dam has been updated. A 3D logo is found on the bonnet. The car has been provided with 16 inch diamond cut alloy wheels, which make the car even more sporty. The rear profile has also been updated, it now gets a newly designed bumper. At the rear, it still gets the same Z-shaped tail lamps as before.
The car is available with 6 single and 2 dual tone color options. These include Amazon Grey, Atlas White, Titan Grey, Typhoon Silver, Starry Night, Fiery Red, Atlas White+Black Roof and Fiery Red+Black Roof.
The cabin of the car is based on black and dual-tone gray theme. The leather seats have been replaced with semi-leather upholstery, but the door trims still have soft touch material.
USB Type-C fast charging port and wireless charging pad have been included as new features in the i20 facelift. Apart from this, it has features like electric sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 7-speaker Bose sound system, digital driver display and air purifier.
Apart from this, the interior gets more than 60 connected features including ambient lighting, semi-leatherette seats, leatherette door armrest, leather-wrapped D-cut steering wheel, Type-C charger and multi-language voice command.
For performance, the new Hyundai i20 has a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine, which generates power of 83.13 hp and torque of 115 nm. For transmission, the engine is tuned to a 5-speed MT or 6-speed iVT automatic gearbox. The company has discontinued the turbo-petrol engine offered in the old model.
More than 40 safety features have been provided in the car. It includes six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill assist control (HAC), vehicle stability management (VSM), 3-point seatbelts, child ISOFIX anchor seats and seat belt reminder for all seats. Features like rear parking camera, tire pressure monitoring system and automatic headlamps are also available in its top variants.
