History of Ram Mandir

Babri Masjid was built by the Mughal emperor Commander Mir Baqi. It was Mir Baqi who named this mosque Babri.

The case reached court for the first time in 1858. Mahant Raghuvardas filed an appeal in the Faizabad court for permission to build a Ram temple next to the Babri Masjid.

1949 The statue of Ramlala appeared under the central dome outside the disputed structure. After this people started worshiping at that place.

1950 Gopal Singh Visharad had filed a case in Faizabad court demanding the right to worship. After this case, Hindus got the right to worship in the temple.

1950 Paramhans Ramchandra Das filed a case in Faizabad court regarding worship and keeping of idols. This step of Paramhansa gave a new edge to the Ram Temple movement.

1959 Nirmohi Akhara filed a suit for possession of the disputed site.

1981 UP Sunni Waqf Board filed a case regarding possession.

February 1, 1986: Local court orders opening of places of worship for Hindus.

August 14, 1989: Allahabad High Court ordered to maintain status quo in the case.

6 December 1992: The disputed structure was demolished. After this the movement for Ram temple intensified.

April 2002: Allahabad High Court started hearing on the ownership rights of the disputed site.

September 30, 2010: High Court ruled to divide the disputed site into three equal parts among Sunni Waqf Board, Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla.

May 9, 2011: The Supreme Court stayed the decision of dividing the Allahabad High Court into three equal parts.

February 8, 2018: Supreme Court begins hearing on civil appeals.

2019: The Supreme Court constituted a five-member Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi.

August 6, 2019: Daily hearing on the Ayodhya case started in the Supreme Court and after the completion of the hearing on August 16, 2019, the decision was reserved.

2019, 09 November: A 5-judge bench of the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi. The Hindu side got 2.77 acres of disputed land and the Muslim side was ordered to provide 5 acres of land separately for the mosque.
