An ALH helicopter of the Indian Coast Guard had to make an emergency landing at sea. The Coast Guard has informed that on 02 September 2024 at 11 pm, an ALH helicopter was dispatched to evacuate an injured crew member from the motor tanker Hari Leela at Porbandar, Gujarat. The helicopter had to make an emergency landing at sea.
The Indian Coast Guard tweeted that the incident occurred when the helicopter was going near the ship for evacuation. One crew member of the helicopter that made an emergency landing has been found. The search for 3 other members is underway. The rescue team has found the wreckage of the helicopter. The Indian Coast Guard has deployed 04 ships and 02 aircraft for the rescue operation.
The ALH helicopter of the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) saved the lives of 67 people during the recent cyclonic storm in Gujarat. The helicopter was dispatched at about 11 pm last night in response to a request received from the Master of the HAZ for medical assistance to the critically injured crew members on board the Indian flagged motor tanker Hari Leela, about 45 km from Porbandar.
