The 62-year-old country singer Toby Keith passed away on Monday. In a message published early on Tuesday on his website and social media pages, his family made the same announcement.

' Toby Keith passed away in a peaceful way last night on February 5th,' the message said. At that moment, his family was all around him. He has battled valiantly and with the highest dignity. Right now, his family needs their privacy to be respected.'

The Oklahoma-born country music singer gained notoriety in 1993 with the hit song 'Should've Been a Cowboy.'

Along with his three children and four grandchildren, Toby Keith is married to Tricia Lucus.

In his most recent interview, Keith talked about his cancer diagnosis and compared it to a rollercoaster ride.

With almost 60 singles to his credit and 20 top-charting entries on the country chart, Toby Keith is a man of many amazing accomplishments. He received the distinction of being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame among celebrities including the well-known duet Robert Hunter and Jerry Garcia, blues legend Willie Dixon, and Cyndi Lauper.

When Toby Keith attended the People's Choice Country Awards in September 2023, he revealed his cancer diagnosis. The late singer told E! News that dealing with illness is like riding a roller coaster, with ups and downs. Alongside his roughly 40-year-old wife Tricia Lucus, he also discussed on the red carpet how life is always a journey from zero to sixty and back again, but that particular day he felt fantastic.

Since the news of his cancer illness was made public in December 2023, Keith has performed at Park MGM in Las Vegas.
