A massive fire broke out today at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport, forcing the cancellation of all flight operations and sparking panic among travellers. Immediate action by firefighting teams is underway as thick plumes of black smoke engulf the area.
According to early reports, the fire reportedly started after a tire of a Pakistani military aircraft caught fire during landing. Emergency response teams rushed to the scene within minutes. Authorities have temporarily shut down the runway to prevent any further incidents and ensure the safety of passengers and staff.
Social media platforms have been flooded with dramatic videos from the site. In one widely shared 32-second clip, passengers can be seen coughing and shielding themselves from the heavy smoke, while others voice concerns about the chaotic situation. Dark clouds continue to rise over the airport, severely affecting visibility.
Fortunately, no casualties or major property damage have been reported so far. The Pakistani military and airport authorities have tightened security across the premises and are closely monitoring the situation. Firefighters are still working relentlessly to fully control and extinguish the blaze.
Travelers are advised to check with airlines for updates before heading to the airport, as operations are expected to remain suspended until further notice.
