Sydney Sixers lost both their openers quickly, but a superb partnership between captain Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner made the difference. Ashleigh Gardner was the top scorer with 85 runs from just 48 deliveries which helped Sydney Sixers to reach 178 runs on the board. Sydney Thunder started the chase strongly with Tamsin Beaumont scoring a half-century. However, things did not go as planned later on which ended the match with an 18 run victory for the Sydney Sixers.
