New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first. A brilliant bowling attack led by Trent Boult made things difficult for the Aussies. Steve Smith was the only batter who stepped up from the batting unit and Mitchell Starc scored a vital 38 runs to end with 195 runs on the board. The visitors had a small total for the chase but were stunned by the Aussie bowlers. None of the batters was able to cross the 20 run mark as New Zealand crumbled for just 82 runs and Adam Zampa got his first fifer in ODI's as well.
