Stop clock Rule in T20 World Cup 2024

ICC has decided to implement the stop clock rule from T20 World Cup 2024. This rule will currently be applicable in white ball cricket. According to the stop clock rule, after the end of one over, the stop clock will be used before the start of the second over. Let us tell you that the captain and the bowler get 60 seconds to start the second over.

How will the Stop clock Rule work?

According to ICC, stop clock will be arranged in every ground. The stop clock will work before the end of one over and the beginning of the next over. As soon as the over is over, it will be the responsibility of the third umpire to start the stop clock. The clock will run from 60 to zero seconds. The bowler has to be ready to bowl the next over before the time runs out.

Violation will cost heavily

Violating the stop clock rule will prove costly for every captain. As per the rules, the fielding captain will be warned twice. However, if the mistake is repeated for the third time, a penalty of 5 runs will be imposed on the team. Actually, ICC has decided to implement this new rule in order to end the match on time.

This rule was used on a trial basis from December 2023 and its results turned out to be quite good. This is the reason why ICC has decided to implement this new rule from the T20 World Cup itself.
